More information on PASCAL's Funding Crisis

Remote Access to PASCAL Databases Print E-mail
We will be working to set up remote access to PASCAL databases for libraries not running their own proxy servers over the next several weeks. We will be working on remote access via password for EBSCO and GALE and coordinating LexisNexis access. We aim to provide a complete solution for all resources by February 10, although LexisNexis may be slightly more involved.

The aim is to make access via passwords one-time occurrance, and move our support for these institutions to our proxy/portal software over the summer of 2006. If this doesn't play out on the schedule we would like, we will continue to maintain the password access solution.

We will distribute a list of institutions we know we need to support early next week. As a starting point, we will be working from data in the information profle that we distributed at the general meeting.

If your institution has not filled the information profile out, please do so at your ealiest convenience (one per institution.). The information we are seeking is critical for us in beginning to build better services. It may be found here:

http://pascalsc.org/admin/form.htm

Many PASCAL institutions manage remote access internally, but there are also many who do not, and I am excited to have reached the point where PASCAL is able to support this expansion in basic service.

Thanks for your patience!

Rick
