Victor P. Jenkinson has joined PASCAL as our new Technical Programs
Coordinator. In this capacity, he will help develop PASCAL's rapidly
evolving information access services and play a leading role in
developing library computing technology applications for academic
libraries in the state of South Carolina. In particular, he will manage
the systems supporting universal borrowing for all PASCAL member
libraries including the State Library, and local integrated library
systems for six SC academic libraries. He will coordinate the
operations of these systems between libraries, the state government
data center housing both the INNREACH and local Millennium systems, and
the vendor (Innovative Interfaces, Inc.)
Victor brings many skills to this position, having previously served as the Assistant Director for Information Technology at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine, a role he has filled since January 2003. Prior to that, he held the position of Head of Circulation at the same library from July of 1999. Victor completed his M.L.I.S. at the University of South Carolina College of Library and Information Science in December 1998. A native of South Carolina, Victor also completed his B.A. in History and English at USC. He has published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Journal of Electronic Resources for Medical Libraries, Health Care on the Internet, written reviews for Medical Reference Services Quarterly, and is a contributing author of the GeriatricWeb grant funded by the National Library of Medicine. He is active in several professional associations including the Medical Library Association, American Library Association and the South Carolina Library Association. In the years 2002 and 2003, Mr. Jenkinson served two terms as Chair of the South Carolina Library Association's Health Sciences Roundtable and on the SCLA Finance Committee. In 2005 Victor was awarded the Association of Academic Health Science Libraries' Leadership Scholarship. I hope you will join me in welcoming Victor to PASCAL! Richard H.
