A digital
collections initiative has been an integral part of PASCAL's long range
plan since May 2001. With the support of the South Carolina State
Library through three consecutive LSTA grants, we have explored
alternatives and laid some foundations for a South Carolina Digital
Library. In July 2006, the PASCAL Board of Directors reaffirmed their
commitment to this program area as a mainstay of the South Carolina
Virtual Academic Library. Through 2006-2007, we will be working on
developing a model for a sustainable program built around the PASCAL
membership and partners in other South Carolina communities of interest.
