PASCAL Electronic Resource Cuts - LexisNexis and AccessScience Print E-mail
As of July 1, 2008,  PASCAL no longer provides statewide access to LexisNexis and Access Science.
 
Due to a 90% reduction in program funding by the South Carolina legislature,  PASCAL's 58 member libraries are scrambling to maintain access to as much of the collection and services that have been provided since January 2004, but many electronic resources will no longer be available universally.  Additionally, libraries that choose to pick up subscriptions to resources formerly supplied by PASCAL will be making cuts  in other areas.

Information about LexisNexis Academic:  
Full text access to over 6,000 news, business, and legal sources. Outstanding historical and current news coverage, with up-to-the-minute stories from national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources. The Company Dossier module retrieves detailed company information and financial performance measures, users can also identify and compare companies matching specific criteria. This product also provides access to the renowned Shepard's Citations® service for all federal and states court cases back to 1789.

Over 8,500 articles from the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 10th edition; supplemented with research updates, current news, dictionaries and other science reference materials published by McGraw-Hill.
