PASCAL is pleased to announce new licenses with the three leading
publishers of nursing research and teaching literature. Through these
licenses, PASCAL will provide digital access to 1,242 nursing and
allied health journals, along with several hundred electronic books and
reports. With this initiative, every academic library in South Carolina
can provide access to a definitive collection of nursing literature.
This wealth of material is made possible though funding provided by the
state legislature for the “Statewide Electronic Library for Higher
Education.”
The CINAHL database is a comprehensive nursing &
allied health research database. PASCAL has upgraded its CINAHL package
to encompass extensive full text materials including more than 620
journals. The database also offers complete texts of selected state
nursing journals, newsletters, monographs, standards of practice,
government publications, practice acts, research instruments, and
patient education material.
ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source,
provides users with reliable healthcare information covering nursing,
allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, and much more.
This versatile database is designed to meet the needs of researchers at
healthcare facilities as well as nursing and allied health programs at
academic institutions. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source
provides abstracting and indexing for more than 700 titles, with over
580 titles in full-text.
PASCAL has licensed the Ovid Nursing Collection II: Lippincott Premier Nursing Journals,
also known as the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) nursing
titles. Ovid Nursing Collection II provides 100% searchable full text
and direct journal links from databases such as CINAHL, MEDLINE and
British Nursing index.
In a coordinated effort, the State Library will be adding a
new collection of nursing reference materials available through DISCUS.
Nursing research just got a whole lot easier in South Carolina! When we
give nursing students access to authoritative and easily accessible
professional literature, we influence the standard of medical care
throughout South Carolina, increasing the wealth of knowledge available
in our hospitals assisted care facilities, and medical offices. Easy
